Tips to relax after a stressful day

After a long day at work, there’s nothing better than coming back home to relax and have some quality time with yourself. It is known that mental health contributes to longevity and physical health. Many of us just tend to sit on the couch, turn on the tv or scroll endlessly on social media. How this can distress our soul?

In this article, you will fine some tips on how to relax after a stressful day.

  1. Keep a journal

Keeping a journal used to be something that many of us were using during our childhood, to write down about our crushes, about what happened to school etc. Keeping a journal though during our adulthood has some incedible benefits. It can help you monitor your feelings, enhance your creativity, boosts your memory, set goals. It helps you overall put an end on the chaos in your mind.

  1. Cook a healthy dinner

Eating healthy in general provides you good health. Aside from that, it gives you the chance to socialize with your loved ones at home while dining. It’s also a creative process, that can keep your mind and hands busy from thinking sad and stressful things.

  1. Take a hot bath

Except from the fact that it will relieve you from muscle tension and provide you relaxation. It has some extra benefits as well. Lowers blood pressure, moisturizes our skin making it healthier, helps with blood circulation and finally makes you sleep faster once you go to bed.

  1. Turn off your phone

Spending less time on your phone and on social media will offer you phenomenal changes at your stress levels. As we know, social media provides you tons of stimulation, that potentially add on your anxiety, which is something we do not need at this state. Also you will decrease the amount of radiation your receive per day, which is a huge plus for your health!

  1. Read a good book

Reading a book is a perfect way to escape stressful reality and use your imagination, which we tend to leave it unused as we grow old. It improves your vocabulary, memory and brain connectivity, aids you in sleep readiness, and prevents cognitive decline as you age.

  1. Prepare a hot tea

Boil some water, and prepare some tea, such as peppermint, chamomile, lemon balm, lavender. These options are proven to help you relax, reduce muscle spasms and improve sleep.

  1. Listen to alpha waves

Alpha waves, or the alpha rhythm, are neural oscillations in the frequency range of 8–12 Hz likely originating from the synchronous and coherent (in phase or constructive) electrical activity of thalamic pacemaker cells in humans. They induce feelings of calm and increase creativity. You will find tons of options on youtube, only by typing alpha waves.

Of course all tips are easier said than done. Maintaining good everyday habits in your routine is something that will offer you a better state of mind in the long term. Studies say that it takes up to 30 days to form a habit. Be persistent and never lose hope!
