The development of the contact lens has been a huge boon to society. To use it effectively, we must first understand how it should be used. You should speak to a contact lens specialist edgewater to understand how to properly care for your lenses.

Having good habits means having healthy eyes, especially when wearing contact lenses. Whether you are just starting with contact lenses or have already been using them for years, the advice below can help you keep your eyes and eyesight healthy and your lenses comfortable.

     What To Do

    • Do Follow your optometrist’s instructions for wearing and replacing your contact lenses.
    • When you remove your contact lenses, clean, rinse, and disinfect them in a new solution. Do not forget to use new solutions constantly. The contents of the case should not be added to.
    • If your eyes get red or inflamed, or your vision abruptly changes, you should remove your lenses and see an eye doctor every once.
    • After each use, you should take out your lenses, rinse the case with a clean solution, and let it dry naturally. Alter your case every three to four months.
    • Always use clean, dry hands when touching your lenses. Before handling your lenses, wash, rinse, and dry your hands using a lint-free towel.
    • Put in your contact lenses prior to you put on makeup, and take them out before you wash your face. After handling your contact lenses, use whatever moisturizer you like.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are unable to wear your contact lenses, you should have a pair of current eyeglasses on hand.
    • Have a quality pair of sunglasses to shield your eyes and lids from the sun.

    What Not To Do

    • Do not “stretch” your lenses further than they were meant to be worn. Daily disposable lenses should never be used for more than a day at a time. Never exceed your optometrist’s suggested lens wear time.
    • Never use your saliva, common water, or old contact lens solutions to clean, rewet, or otherwise care for your lenses.
    • Avoid getting the bottle’s spout near anything, especially your eyes, fingers, or contact lenses.
    • Do not lend out your contact lenses.
    • Do not try to economize by using an old lens solution. Only use a fresh solution when rinsing, cleaning, and storing your lenses.
    • If your contact lenses become wet, it might cause an infection or possibly permanent vision loss.
    • Unless your eye doctor tells you to, stick with the same contact lens solution brand. There is not a single universal answer.
    • If you feel unwell, do not put in your contacts.
    • You should not snooze or sleep in your contacts unless your eye doctor has recommended and approved it.
