Facial implant surgery is a type of cosmetic surgery performed to improve people’s facial curves or give their face and features more balance. Facial implant surgery can also help to restore a person’s facial shape following damage or a significant sickness (such as cancer). Human tissue or synthetic materials such as polyethylene or silicone can make implants. Consult a professional to learn more about houston facial implants today.

    What are facial implants?

Facial implants are typically constructed of safe materials compatible with the human body and have a low risk of rejection or allergic response. Silicone, polyethylene, and expanded polytetrafluoroethylene are all possible materials for facial implants.

Silicone face implants have been utilized since the mid-twentieth century and are extremely resistant to rupture. Silicone face implants are solid materials in various shapes and sizes and do not normally fuse to the bone or integrate with the tissue.

Because polyethylene face implants are porous, they are more prone to bind to the tissue around the insertion site over time. Polyethylene face implants, on the other hand, are more hard and difficult to mold and shape.

Since the late twentieth century, face implants made of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene, also known as Gore-Tex, have been employed. Like conventional polyethylene implants, they are highly absorbent, resulting in implant fusion with surrounding tissues. These implants may be difficult to remove. They have a high record of success and satisfaction, with just 1.5% of patients removing or replacing the implants.

    Where are facial implants placed?

Facial implants often augment the jawbone, chin, and cheeks. Here is what you should know about each of these three areas:

    • Jaw

This technique can help to tighten and sharpen the jawline, giving it a more prominent and attractive appearance. Jaw implants are typically paired with chin implants and nasal contouring and are implanted through an incision along the jawbone.

    • Chin

The most popular form of facial implant surgery is chin augmentation with chin implants. This surgery can balance the face profile by enhancing a tiny chin disproportionate to other facial characteristics. Chin implants can be put through the mouth along the gum line on the lower jaw or through a tiny incision on the underside of the chin.

    • Cheeks

Another prevalent form of facial implant surgery is cheek augmentation with cheek implants. This technique can provide volume or lift to the cheekbones, giving them a more youthful and attractive appearance.

This operation is suitable for people who have naturally or owing to age, lost volume or fat around the malar regions and flat or hollow cheekbones. There are three types of cheek implants: malar, sub-malar, and combination.
